Summer 2008

I'm feeling a little guilty that I haven't posted anything since July, so I decided to put quite a few pictures up from the Summer.
DAWSEN'S BIRTHDAY
We had Dawsen's birthday party at Millsite, it was a lot of fun.

I attempted making this cake, it turned out ok, but it was falling a part by the time of the party.

We had a pinata full of lots of candy, and a few fireworks since Dawsen was born on the 4th of July.

We tried to get a picture of all of the cousins that were there, and you can see Trever loves his picture taken.

MESQUITE

Rebekah had planned a trip for all of us to go to the Grand Canyon, but it didn't work out. So, we all went to Mesquite instead. We had a really good time. I think it was around 107, but we spent most of our time around the pool so it didn't really matter. Grandma tended the kids at night for us, and we did a little bit of gambling.

FATHER'S DAY

For Fathers Day we went fishing with some friends up at Potters Pond. It was nice to be up in the mountains even though we didn't catch very many fish.

Deacon and Devon had fun playing in the dirt.

CAMPING

Here's a few pictures from our one and only camping trip of the year. We knew it was suppose to rain all weekend, but James was determined to still go. We had an fun time, but by Sunday morning we were ready to go home. After locking the keys in the trailer in the middle of a downpour, and trying to keep Devon from getting too muddy, and being slightly nervous that we wouldn't make it out of there, we headed home before the Sunday rains started.

JOE'S VALLEY

Aunt Rebekah and her family came out to visit us this Summer, and while they were here we went to Joe's Valley to play in the water and we had a great time! If you can't tell by the boys faces...getting a picture of them is about as much fun as getting their teeth pulled!

Devon loves the water, and also trucks and tractors.

The girls had fun playing in the dirt!

Dawsen likes to play with Devon.

New Roof

This is what our house looked like on Thursday...

Thursday afternoon...
and now on Saturday...
Devon got to take a little ride with Grandpa Byars.

James decided to take on a pretty big project this weekend, and I just wanted to show everyone his progress. Our little, old house needed a new roof. James got in the attic, and he could actually see daylight through our roof. Since our house didn't have trusses either, he decided it would be better to add those also. Take in mind that he started this on Thursday, and it is now Saturday. We have had a lot of wonderful help, we are blessed with good family and friends.

As you can see, Devon has began to be a little dare devil. Grandma Frandsen gave him this four wheeler for his birthday and he'd rather stand on it than ride it. It's amazing to see what he can do although he doesn't like it when I have to stop him from doing something that might break his neck...like standing on the four wheeler.

James and I went to the EMS conference in St. George this year, and Devon got to go swimming for the first time. He didn't like it all that much, but I hope that by the end of the Summer he will like the water better. St.George was nice and the conference was really good although we spent a lot of time chasing Devon. We even got to see Celine Dion...ok she was in impersonator from Las Vegas, but she was pretty good. Next year hopefully we can go down without kids, it wasn't really an option this year since I am still nursing, but we are working on that, and I do see an end to it.

Devon's First Birthday

Devon's birthday was on April 23rd, I'm a little late getting this posted. We had two parties for him, one at the Byars, and one at the Frandsens. Not that he cared, but it was fun to let him play in his cake, and it's always nice to get together with family. He also got his first ear infection this week, so he wasn't in the best mood, and he had really high fevers, but thank goodness that is over for now. We also went to his one year check up. He is now 24.4 pounds, and he is 31 inches long, and he is doing well.

Devon was probably more interested in the trucks on top than the cake itself.
Dawsen made this sign for Devon which was really sweet of her. It says Devon is The King!
I finally found a dump truck that was big enough to hold this dirt cake. I know he didn't care, but it was fun, and I can always do it again when he is older.
Unfortunately, we had a few tears also, but they didn't last long.

Last night I was thinking about how a year ago I was very pregnant at this time. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't walk very far without being winded, and I was really enjoying that nighttime heartburn. I was also pretty nervous about going into labor, and how the whole delivery process would work out. Would I know I was in labor?...or would I have our baby in the car on the way to the hospital?...since we live an hour away. Even though we had went to some classes, and they showed all of the videos, for me, it's just not the same until I have experienced it for myself.

Everything went just fine...we went to the hospital twice that day before they would keep me. The first time I think we knew it wasn't quite time, but it got James out of talking in Sacrament Meeting...he figured if his wife was having a baby it was a pretty good excuse, and I just couldn't quite bring myself to sitting through Sacrament Meeting thinking that I was probably having contractions, and the fear of my water breaking. That evening we went back to the hospital about 8:00 and we had Devon I think at 1:47. The nurses said that by an hour and a half Devon became a Taurus, and he does seem to have a little of that bull headedness in him. Everything went pretty quick, I just wish I would have had an epidural quicker.

I just can't hardly believe it has been almost a year since we brought this little guy home, and every day he amazes me even more. Since I didn't have a blog when he was born, I wanted to share some of Devon's first pictures.

Devon was 3 months old here.

I think he was 6 weeks old here, just starting to get that personality, and those funny faces!

Devon also love playing peek-a-boo with just about anything!
It has been a while since I have posted anything, so I wanted to give a quick update. James and I went to Colorado for a job interview, but we decided that it would be better for us to stay here. It would have been about 3 1/2 hours away from both of our families, so not too far, but we really didn't want to leave. James started working for a mine called Sufco this week. He will be rotating graveyard and afternoon shifts, so it may take a while getting used to, but he only works 4 days a week. Hopefully we will get to do some fun things this Summer with the longer weekends.

Devon turns one next week! I can't believe how the time flies! He has started walking, and it is so cute! He toddles around with his hands out in front of him for balance. I'm trying to get a video of it on here, but I keep getting an error message. So here's a few pictures of him standing...Oh yeah, and he loves a truck. He definitely knows he's a boy.

We had a really fun Easter this year. My sister Rebekah, and her husband Chris, and their little boy Sebastian came out from California to visit. It was really good to see them. We had an Easter egg hunt at my Grandma's, and then we went Out South and rolled Easter eggs, flew kites, and rode four wheelers. The weather wasn't too bad considering it was only March, and as always the wind blew, and we were ready to go back to my Grandma's to get out of the dust.

Mussentuchit Sand Dunes

Yesterday, we took a little Sunday drive on the desert. We went to a place called Mussentuchit Sand Dune. James would go here Eastering as a kid, it would be a great place to roll an Easter egg, and he would ride his motorcycle out here when he was a little older. I asked him what was on top, and what was on the other side. He said that he had never made it to the top, and yesterday we weren't up for that hike either. So that is still a mystery to us. Even though I grew up here too, I had never been out to the sand dune...dune isn't plural because there is only one out there. Kind of strange, but it is neat to see. We decided that there are a lot of places close by that we've never been, but we are going to try and see more of the beautiful country that is so close to us.

Hi everyone! Tana and Nancy have inspired me to try this whole "blogging" thing. I'm not sure that I can figure it all out, but seeing Nancy do it with a brand new baby inspires me.

James and I will have been married for 4 years this June, which is hard to believe. Our little boy was born April 23, 2007. He has been so much fun although everything he learns to do gives me more challenges...like getting him dressed...or changing his diaper. He just doesn't want to hold still anymore. We are having a lot of fun though, and I love his slobbery kisses.
